Key Development in Aylesbury Vale
The need for Major Development Areas (MDAs)
From time to time Central Government, via Regional planning organisations, require the Counties to plan for future population increases.
The BCC County Structure Plan commited AVDC to major development in the period 2001 – 2011: 8,600 dwellings and 8,800 jobs. The South East Plan revised this commitment, meaning we have to deliver 26,800 new homes and jobs during the period 2006 - 2026.
Much of this development will take place in Aylesbury where three MDAs are proposed along with other as yet undecided locations. Other large developments are proposed to the north of Newton Longville( immediately adjoining Milton Keynes) and at Buckingham, Winslow, Wendover and Haddenham.
The three MDAs identified in the Aylesbury Vale District Local Plan (AVDLP) and were examined at a public inquiry which finished in June 2001. This plan was adopted in January 2004.
The local development framework (LDF) will replace AVDLP gradually over time. The first stage of the LDF will be the publication of the core strategy.
