What is the Community Chest?
The Community Chest was formed as part of the agreement to transfer housing stock from AVDC to the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust (VAHT). The Community Chest is a partnership fund accountable to both the district council and the housing trust.
It is planned that funds of up to £500,000 per year will be available from 2007 - 2017.
Application forms are not available online. You need to contact the grants officer to request an application form. Please read the information below.
From April 2010 grants criteria, in line with the new Sustainable Community Strategy for Aylesbury Vale, published in October 2009, will be used to assess applications. A more detailed summary of the Community Chest fund, including the new criteria, can be downloaded below.
Three funding streams are available from the Community Chest:
- Micro grants up to £1,000 – easily accessible grants for projects or groups for a variety of different uses such as buying new equipment for your group, start-up costs, rent, special events or community projects etc. This fund opened in March 2007. Applications can be submitted at any time, closing date 15th of each month.
- Project grants up to £25,000 – both for new projects and for existing projects that can demonstrate they are successful in meeting local needs. Community and voluntary groups, including social enterprises, are eligible to apply for these one-off grants. This fund also opened in March 2007. Next closing dates: 9 July and 10 December 2010. Application packs are available, please contact the grants officer.
- Three year revenue funding for voluntary and community organisations providing services to local people. This is a two-phase application process. The first phase is a simple form to check whether the Panel would be willing to consider a full application from the organisation. The second phase requires more detail about the service to be supported. Funding up to £25,000 pa is available. This limited stream of grants was fully subscribed for its first round for funding from 2008-2011. The second round opens on 5 April 2010, for funding from 2011-14.Phase I closing date 11 June 2010.
